NorthPointe Resources did not let the floods of August dampen their spirits when the 12th Annual Doug Cygan NorthPointe Golf Classic was rescheduled from August 27th to Monday September 24th.  The change in date was a beautiful sunny warm day at Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan where over 250 golfers turned out to help support the agency.  The dynamic line up of celebrities that attended the event included Chicago Bear greats: Jim Covert, Richard Dent, Dan Hampton, Glen Kozlowski, Lydell Mitchell, Emery Moorehead, James Thornton, James “Big Cat” Williams, and Otis Wilson.  In addition, former Los Angeles/Oakland Raider Rod Martin, Milwaukee Brewer legend Gorman Thomas, Chicago Blackhawk Stan Mikita, and last but not least representing the golf arena was LPGA great, Jan Stephenson!

“I believe that the success of this event is based on the fact that many of the players come back year after year. They feel that supporting this event is an excellent way to support all of the members of our community” says Doug Cygan, VP Grocery/GM Jewel Osco and Event Honoree. “Last year we had our first Hole-in-one-winner” said Susan Thomas, Event Chairperson, “It would be great to see winner again this year, the odds of getting a hole-in-one for the average golfer is more than 8,000 to 1”.

The successful event raised over $300,000 this year.  Proceeds from this event will aid in capital improvements for the residential homes and the Killian Center.
