If you receive SSDI or work but do not earn enough income to file an income tax form you should file this 1040A form. SSI income does not qualify you for this, but if your qualifying income totals at least $3,000 you are eligible. To qualify for a rebate a person must meet the following guidelines:
- Have a valid Social Security Number
- Not be claimed as a dependent on anyone else's tax return
- Have at least $3,000 in income in 2007 from one or more of the following sources-
- Earnings from a job
- Social Security Disability Payments
- Social Security Retirement Payments
- Other Qualified Retirement Payments
Remember:
- SSI is not a qualifying income
The 1040A must be filed by April 15, 2008 if you worked in 2007. People who are not normally required to file have a deadline of October 15, 2008. You may have more specific questions regarding this; For more information, search IRS 1040A and SSDI on the Internet, or look at www.IRS.gov to locate the 1040A form with directions. We hope this information assists you in receiving an economic stimulus check.
