Third Annual "Day at the Races" Fund Raising Event

Perfect weather and the breathtaking views of The International Room at Arlington Park Race Track proved to be the perfect place for our third annual “Day at the Races” event held on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
This year we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day of sunshine. 150 attendees enjoyed delicious food, great racing, mingling with friends, the very popular raffle buckets and a large selection of silent auction items: Florida Condo, Cubs tickets, Bulls tickets, sports memorabilia, jewelry, theme baskets, home improvement services and so much more. We brought back the "Pick A Jockey" to benefit individuals who cannot afford riding activities. All the items were gone at the end of the event and $750 was raised. Guests were thrilled to play our Live “DOT” Auction game and competed for a beautiful gold Swarovski Necklace and a Samsung flat screen TV.
This year, A Day at the Races contributed over $44,000 for our Life Skills Education Program. Many thanks to our Co-chair Lorna Zaloudek who dedicated endless hours of volunteering for this event, as did Lona Massong our Decoration Chair person. And a special thank you must go out to Anne and Bob Johnson whose skills soliciting an endless list variety of top-notch silent auction items as well as capsule items is legendary. Lastly, we are grateful for the help of our volunteers for making the day so enjoyable for our guests!
