CILA LAUNCHES NEW COMMUNITY MODEL FOR ALL OF THE HOMES
![]() |
The Community Integrated Living Arrangement, (CILA) Division has spent the last year designing a whole new program format for all our individuals and is excited to announce that the program has been launched.
It started with the Program Study committee comprised of staff and consumers. Together we mapped out a plan that captures the essence of what should be a family community model in all our CILA group homes. We agreed that the program revision would be consumer driven and the program outcomes would help in empowering the consumer's lives and achieving their dreams by:
1. Direct on-going program inputs by consumers.
2. Consumer program participation in a partnered role with their peers and staff.
3. That ILC staff are active teachers in all aspects of the consumer's program activities in their homes.
Starting the week of January 12, '09, three primary program trainers will be training Individual Living Counselors, (ILC) Staff and their assigned, Residential Program Manager, (RPM) on the new program model entitled, the Family Activity Community Model, (FCAM). The pilot home location for this program will be the 29th Central CILA home located in Zion, IL.
Once trained by the primary training staff, the ILC/RPM trainers will in turn implement this program for all the consumers living at the 29th Central location. We will spend approximately one month at this home location getting this program off the ground and then progressively teaching all our ILC staff in all our group homes on this new program model. Our target date for program completion is June 30, 2009.
Specialized program to begin at Wildwood CILA home
We are also starting a new program project at our Wildwood CILA Home location in Gray's Lake, IL. The consumers who reside here are profoundly challenged and require specialized care and treatment for their needs and wants. We are in the process of starting a specialized program approach permitting the consumers to learn at their own pace through a structured, "gentle teaching" type mode. We are very excited about this project and the empowerment it will offer our CILA residents.
