REPORTS TO: Developmental Training Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY: Provides integrated and functional independent living skills instruction in natural environments for people with severe and profound developmental disabilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares all lesson plans, and instructional materials for class instruction. Lesson plans are submitted one month in advance to the DT1 Manager for approval.
- Plans, organizes, and implements training methods consistent with the objectives listed in each individual’s service plan (including at least 2 community integrated training sessions per month).
- Keeps abreast of new teaching concepts, training techniques, etc.
- Maintains documentation of client attendance records, payroll reports, behavior data (including unusual behavior changes and/or achievements), reinforcement schedules, current copy of ISPs, etc.
- Ensures that DSP, CPR, CPI, First Aide and any other required trainings are completed and remain up to date.
- Educate, promote and provide support to individuals in making healthy lifestyle choices, as referenced in the DSP health and safety and health and nutrition training curriculums and/or service plans.
- Identify and utilize effective advocacy strategies to overcome the diverse challenges facing consumers, i.e., human rights, legal, administrative and financial.
- Compile and score monthly goal data. Hand in monthly goal data to DT1 Manager.
- Collects and records program evaluation data.
- Provides follow up assessments and training of clients.
- Informs Vocational QMRP about progress, behaviors, etc. before staffings.
- Documents behavioral concerns; reports them promptly to the VQMRP.
- Attend individual staffings and / or ensure that a fellow staff member represents the individual.
- Become involved in at least one agency committee.
- Rotate “Meals on Wheels” responsibilities
- The employee may be asked to perform other duties as required by the employer’s business needs.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with personal care needs for individuals served as needed
- Prepare lunch meals for individuals served according to department of health and Kiley guidelines and standards
- Maintains a clean and organized training area
- Records minutes on a rotating basis at weekly department meetings.
PHYSICAL & VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to see accurately both near and far
- Ability to walk, bend, twist, kneel, and stoop
- Ability to accurately manipulate small objects accurately using fine motor skills
- Ability to drive to various locations as needed, adapting to various weather conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of related experience
- Attention to detail, good writing skills, strong interpersonal and training skills
- Valid drivers' license
- Physical ability to lift and transfer people with mobility disabilities.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Outlook preferred.
